The Famous Jazz Festival in Cheltenham
Held each year at the end of April and into early May, the Cheltenham Jazz Festival is a week-long party of jazz in all of its forms and types, in a town that takes pride in the beachfront festivals and events that bring the city community together with traffic. Taking place predominantly at the center of the town, at a design that complements the organizers’ laid-back approach to the festival, you can drift between tents and acts sampling jazz from the well known international jazz acts an out of the up-and-coming from across the world. It’s a playful, inclusive event blending swing, electronic jazz and Afro-beat jazz designs – there are not very many jazz fascists in sight! If you like jazz and fancy a weekend relaxing or camping at a great portion of their UK, the camping sites recorded here could make a fantastic base for the weekend of the Cheltenham Jazz Festival.
There is a programme of ticketed events, so you may want to treat yourself to an exclusive occasion or two out of the diverse line up annually. However, there are also a lot of free music events and fun family activities going on in Montpelier Gardens which is an ideal place to soak up the festival setting and permit the younger members of your crew to become accustomed to festival life. You will find jazz workshops for children who wish to try their hands and mouths at some jazz and blues… very little littlies may even participate in a teddy bears picnic.
